In order be fluent in speaking Mandarin, you need to be fully aware of your tone. A change of tone will totally change the meaning of what you want to say. That is why learning how to speak the correct tones is one of the key factors in learning Mandarin.
But how can I do that? Do not worry, you can start from learning the 'pin yin'. Pin yin is consist of the different consonants, vowels and tones in order how to read each Chinese character correctly.
Pin yin is consists of 21 consonants or 声母 ( shēng mǔ --- now that is an example of pin yin) and 30 basic vowels or 韵母 ( yùn mǔ ). There are some vowels that are a combination of 2 basic vowels, just like iao, ian, uan, uang, and so on.
